Clarity is Confidence

There is a mantra I often share with clients and go back to myself…

Action precedes clarity.

It comes up a lot because we want things to become clear first, then we can take action with confidence. We want to know that we are doing the right thing, and making the right decision.

However, watching this play out over and over again has convinced me that action does in fact precede clarity. We have to take steps to get the clarity we need. We have to trust that the thing we desire, the blurry idea we have, is worth pursuing and take those steps before we experience true clarity. It’s as Rumi said,

When you start to walk on the way, the way appears.

As we head into the first week of June, we are two months into the spring quarter, which means a lot of action has been taken, and tentative steps have turned into confident ones. The emotions, the doubt, the resistance have been faced and now we are starting to reap the rewards of action.

What is the payoff of action? Clarity – yes. Confidence – for sure. So if you are not reaping the rewards of taking intentional action, if you aren’t sure of the next step, if you feel the mists of uncertainty around you. Lean into action.

What is one step you can take this week that will encourage clarity?
