This week, we are delighted to share our AW Member Q+A with Deepa Menon. Deepa joined AW during our last special fall session and then continued on into our 1-year program. I had the pleasure of speaking with Deepa during the first quarter of this year. Deepa had excellent feedback for us, and I truly enjoyed getting to know her. I think you will enjoy seeing the Member Q+A questions being answered from her unique perspective.

Name…

Deepa

My true north/WHY is…

A Mary Oliver poem (“When Death Comes”). The whole poem is wonderful, but I particularly love

When it’s over, I want to say: all my life

I was a bride married to amazement.

I was the bridegroom, taking the world into my arms.

I use the last line to shape my decision-making: “I don’t want to end up simply having visited this world.” I am always seeking joy and connection, as well as working to be comfortably uncomfortable.

My expertise/zone of genius is…

Finding the humor or the positive in almost every situation.

My daily practices are…

Journaling (gratitude and goals), movement, skin care and visualization.

My favorite indulgence is…

Self care of all kinds! Facials, massages, long meandering hikes, journaling – you name it.

I’m reading, listening and/or watching…

I always have a fiction and a nonfiction book on the go. Right now, those are “The Willpower Instinct” by Kelly McGonigal and “Weyward” by Emilia Hart.

To me, accountability is…

Recognizing that we can take action even if we don’t want to in the moment because we want the long term end results, and that consistency is a superpower.

Accountability Works helps me…

Create momentum in my daily life by setting realistic weekly goals, and providing a space for structured experimentation.

You can connect with me or learn more about what I do…
