When Things Get Messy, Return to Your Vision
Vision is the fun part. It’s closing your eyes and imagining how you want the day, month, or year to go. It’s naming and seeing what it is that’s important to you. Our actual eyes are exposed to so much these days. Our brains are bombarded with information. The marketing that we are exposed to is both overt and covert. Populating our feeds and ingeniously placed in our favorite shows. We are constantly being told what should make us feel happy, beautiful, fulfilled.
Deciding what we want, what is important to us, and what matters is almost an act of rebellion.
So let’s tune in together and answer the following questions:
- What are the areas of your life that are most calling your attention right now?
- Why are these important right now?
- What would giving these areas your full attention look like?
- If you fast forward a couple of months from now, assuming you gave the attention where it was needed i.e. focused on your goals, how would you feel, what would be better or different?
Your Why Creates Momentum
Hint: the answer to #4 is your why. It’s the driving force behind change. It’s what gets you through the messy middle of change, when the excitement of starting has worn off but you aren’t quite to your destination yet. Lean into your vision whether you see yourself having peace of mind, meaningful experiences with loved ones, financial stability – or whatever it is that you want to create and can see for yourself. It will help you stay the course.
It doesn’t mean you don’t have to take the next action step, because you do, but knowing what that step is leading you towards, makes it feel so much more worth it.
So one last question,
- What is one thing you can do today that will get you one step closer to where you want to be?
We help people craft visions all the time and what we’ve learned is that whatever you see for yourself is important. Even if the outside world doesn’t agree or affirm it. You have so many choices, and yet, most people have a pretty clear picture of what they want, it needs only to be named, claimed, and recommitted to again and again.
