If you’ve been reading our articles for any length of time, you know that we are big fans of planning. We create 1-year plans and quarterly plans, and internally, we maintain a 3-year and 1-year plan for the company. There are wonderful reasons to plan—it saves time and allows you to choose a direction and focus on it.
Planning vs. Execution
However, planning is not execution. Execution is the daily and weekly steps you take to ensure that your plan becomes a reality. It’s a mistake to think you can accomplish your goals if you don’t work on them every day or, at a minimum, every week.
We create the future from the present moment. What you do today impacts tomorrow and beyond. If you procrastinate on taking action, whether for tomorrow, next week, or next month, then all you are doing is kicking the results that you want further down the road.
Are You Executing on Your Goals?
Ask yourself:
- How are you ensuring daily and weekly action towards your goals?
- How are you keeping them front and center?
- How do you make sure the necessary actions get done?
The Power of Mindful Accountability
At Accountability Works, we harness the power of mindful accountability:
- Everyone in our program has clearly stated goals.
- Every week, they commit to the next right action in service of their goals.
- This process keeps them mindful, engaged, and in action toward what matters most—personally and professionally.
A Simple Step to Get Started
If you feel like too much time is passing without action, start with this simple step:
Write your goals down every morning.
Begin there, and observe how mindful awareness naturally drives daily and weekly action toward your goals.
