I just completed my first private session of Accountability Works. This was a bit of an experiment for me because I’ve been part of a group for as many years as I’ve been in Accountability and I love the dynamics and energy of a group. Having said that after an intense period of focusing on my business, I felt like my health needed some serious attention. I was back into my old patterns of not enough sleep, not exercising consistently, and not eating the foods that make my body happy. I could feel the undercurrent of stress in my body and how it was making me feel agitated and leading to poor choices.
At that point I decided to do a one-on-one session with Shauna Lay. I wanted to get totally focused on my health. I set a bedtime, got back to getting up early, and got consistent around running and yoga. I called my Mom, who is an Ayurvedic health coach and she helped me make some important dietary changes and recommended some herbs. I went to see an acupuncturist who has done wonders for me. I still don’t understand how I can actually feel blissful with needles all over my body, but I become so deeply relaxed I lose all sense of time and space. After six short weeks of making commitments to improve my health, I can’t believe how much better I feel. There were days I know I wouldn’t have taken my herbs or gone to bed at a decent hour without those commitments. There were times I had to run in the evening and then again the next morning to meet my running commitment. I had to push through some stuff and I ended up in tears on the phone a couple of times because sometimes changing your trajectory is hard work. But, oh my gosh, do I feel better.
I’ve always known that you can use this process to work on whatever is up for you in the moment. I have clients that come to me to work on stress and anxiety. I have powerful business people that want to make commitments around quieting the mind and self-care. I just never used the process that way for myself. I have always been in a group focused on both business and personal goals and this was a little uncomfortable for me. I felt like I should be making commitments to send out marketing emails or posting my videos online but I just couldn’t because it was so glaringly obvious that I needed to take care of me first. I was so moved by the experience that I wanted to share it with you. Are you taking care of yourself? Are you setting time aside to make your health a priority? It doesn’t take as much time or energy as you think it will. Every commitment that you make to improve the quality of your health will give back to you in countless ways. Don’t put it off, no matter where you are at, you can make a difference by taking responsibility for your own well-being.
Do you want help with your commitment to taking better care of yourself? We are enrolling now, the summer session begins next week, check the schedule here and let us know if you have any questions. We’d love to support you in your path to excellent health and well-being.
