This week we are bringing you our quarterly Read Watch Listen recommendations. We mine these from our coaches, members, and community at large. So if you have your own, send them our way.

Read: Emotional Agility by Susan David, PhD

I loved this book on many different levels. Here is a passage from the book,

“We are on this planet for only a limited time and it makes sense to try and use that time wisely, in a way that will add up to something personally meaningful.

And study after study shows that having a strong sense of what matters leads to greater happiness, as well as better health, stronger marriages, and greater academic and professional success.”

When I read this, it felt so resonant with our AW philosophy, work, and experience. It never ceases to amaze us how profoundly our clients’ lives change when they focus on what matters most to them. It seems like that would be a no-brainer but it’s actually not. It’s surprisingly easy to put these things off.

This book is full of lessons on how to unhook from patterns that don’t serve us, not so that we can get more done (although we will), but so we can spend our time on what matters most.

Watch: 1883

This came as a recommendation from more than one person and what I couldn’t believe when I started to watch it, was they failed to mention that not only did it star Sam Elliot (of course I would have watched it just for him), but also country music power couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, and if you don’t love them already, you will after this show. But the person who stole the show, at least for me, is the young actress, Isabel May, who plays their 18-year old daughter and perfectly captures what it means to feminine and fierce, wild, free, and so very human.

Listen: NFTS For Newbies: World of Women: Inside the Amazing NFT Project

I’m not sure about you but the NFT craze has started to hit home. It’s  been explained to me many times but with all the buzzwords – web3, Ethereum, NFT  –  it’s hard to actually take any of it in.

So I asked for a podcast recommendation and I got NFTs for Newbies. I appreciated this particular episode for two reasons. It introduces the World of Women (WoW) NFT project. Check out their vision statement:

WoW’s vision is to build an inclusive web3 through its collection and community. According to research published in Nov. 2021, female artists accounted for just 5% of all NFT art sales in the prior 21 months. WoW is on a mission to change this. Together, we can create opportunities for anyone around the world to be owners, creators and contributors in this new era of the web.

We believe in giving back from Day 1. With the WoW community, we’re taking action to increase diversity in the NFT space, educate and onboard the next generation of creators and builders, and create equal opportunities for everyone. The time is now.

Plus, this episode illustrates the wild west of all that’s happening in this space right now. The growth, the collaborations, and yes the vision.

What it won’t do is unravel all the lingo but it may peak your interest just enough to make you want to check out this new frontier.
